What is God saying?
God is completely unique - unique in his holiness, in his divinity, in his stability and permanence.
What is God saying to us today?
We might not be surrounded by other gods like the ancient Israelites were - we don’t come across shops selling idols to the god of rain or the god of the sun. But, even in our culture we can make holy things out of the common. We can make things like our political parties, our careers, our sports teams, and even our religious traditions sacred. In fact, we can elevate these things to the place of a god, where we’re ready to sacrifice friends, family, health, money, and even our lives in our devotion to such things. Yet God alone is worthy to hold the highest position in our hearts and minds, because He offers us a support that is far more permanent than anything else we can find or chase after.
What is God inviting us to do?
Who or what has your ultimate allegiance and devotion? God invites us to live lives that put Him first above all else, and He will be the rock that will always provide the support we need!
