"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
What is God saying?
He will send His Spirit to give us, His followers, the power to tell other people about Him - people who are in our hometown, in our country, and in our world.
What is God saying to us today?
It can be scary and overwhelming to think about being a witness for God. What if people laugh at us? What if they ask us questions we don't know the answer to? What if we offend them and they never want to hear anything about Jesus again? What if I can't be a missionary to a country on the other side of the world? It does seem much easier to just forget this whole idea about being a witness. But, the key to being a witness for Jesus isn't our own knowledge, or popularity, or ability; the key is God's power that He promises to give to us. We should do our best to be prepared with a good understanding of the Bible and theology, but the best thing we can do to prepare is to pray for the Holy Spirit to give us the power to share our witness of what Jesus has done in our own lives.
