LOVING, SERVING, AND GROWING THE KINGDOM ONE PERSON AT A TIME

Colossians 3:23-24

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for your human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." (NIV)

What is God saying?

When they work, God's followers aren't simply observed by their human bosses, but by God as well. And He will also give them a reward for their work, as ultimately it is Him they are serving.

What is God saying to us?

Most of us end up in a non-ideal work situation at one point or another in our lives. Whether it's because of a difficult boss, or problematic coworkers, or overwhelming/under-challenging assignments, we are tempted to do less than our best. We slack off, we undermine, perhaps we even sabotage - and feel justified in doing so. But God wants us to always be the best we can be, since as Christians we representing Him to the world around us. While it might be difficult to endure difficult work environments, we know that God has promised us something much better than a nice paycheck, He has promised us a retirement package that is out of this world!

What is God inviting us to do?

Are you going through problems at work? God invites us to work in a way that is above reproach, so that we might testify of Him through our high-quality character.
