LOVING, SERVING, AND GROWING THE KINGDOM ONE PERSON AT A TIME

Emergencies

Due to the pandemic, many normal services have been reduced to emergency-need only. Even essential businesses have not been able to conduct business as usual. Social workers have reduced hours to only deal with the most dire of cases. Dentists were only able to see patients that needed emergency work. There were even reports of police departments changing their policy to only respond to violent crimes.

Perhaps one of the most significant reductions in services is to the court system. Judges are only hearing cases that meet essential/emergency standards. So, everything from minor to major cases have been put on hold, with no certain timetable for them to be heard. Our legal system can cause delays even during the best of times, so it’s not hard to imagine how much more difficult things will be in the future when courts have to deal with a large backlog of cases after only dealing with emergency issues.

As Christians, we can be thankful that God does not only care about the emergencies in our lives. He cares about everything we are dealing with; there is nothing to small or too big to bring to Him. He invites us to come to Him and not be shy or reserved in what we share with Him, because He will take care of it all. “Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes (Ephesians 3:20). May we trust God with everything that is on our minds and hearts, and know that His mighty power is always at work!
