What is God saying?
God's followers are to live according to what His Spirit wants us to do and not according to what we want to do.
What is God saying to us today?
We often live our lives by following what others want for us, even if we don't necessarily realize it. We are influenced by advertisements to buy certain products, we are influenced by our choice of media outlets how to vote, we are influenced by magazine covers what to wear, we are influenced by governmental agencies on what to eat. In short, we end up following all of these other sources of guidance, even though we often think that we are following our own hearts. But, our "hearts" can trick as we not only follow after these subconscious influences, we follow after sinful things as well. Instead of following things that are ultimately harmful to us, God wants for us to follow His Spirit, because He alone has our best interests at heart.
What is God inviting us to do?
When is the last time you took a moment to review the desires of your heart? Would obtaining them be a true benefit to you, your loved ones, and you community? God invites us to follow His Spirit of self-sacrificial love, so that we will lives that are both blessed and a blessing.
