LOVING, SERVING, AND GROWING THE KINGDOM ONE PERSON AT A TIME

James 1:5

"But if any of you needs wisdom, you should ask God for it. He is generous to everyone and will give you wisdom without criticizing you." (NCV)

What is God saying?

God generously gives us wisdom, so we should ask Him for it, without worrying that He will find fault with us.

What is God saying to us today?

We all find ourselves in situations where we could use some wisdom - a big decision at work, problems with raising our children, deciding about entering into a romantic relationship, etc. Perhaps we go to our friends for guidance or ask our parents for their insights. What seems to be an even more common approach these days is to just use Google to find some help - after all, Google won't judge us for asking a "stupid" question or being in a "dumb" situation. Although sometimes Google doesn't quite provide the right nuanced help that someone who knows us would. God on the other hand provides the best of both worlds. He is wiser than any human and Google combined, He knows us intimately, and He promises to not criticize us.

What is God inviting us to do?

How often do you seek wisdom? God invites us to come to Him when we are in need, and we can trust that He will give us the wisest counsel without thinking any less of us.
