What is God saying?
His followers are to know what God has taught through the Bible and then follow it. When they do, they will glean God's wisdom and find success.
What is God saying to us today?
It seems as if Bible study is going extinct in Western Christianity. Okay, that might be an overstatement, but it's a struggle for many of us to even find time to read the Bible consistently - much less actually study it with a concordance, commentary, and lexicon. Then, when we do learn something that is applicable to our lives, we struggle to actually put it into practice - we often find it difficult to obey. (Sometimes we might even get to the point where we think "obey" is a bad word, since we have grace!) And then we wonder why we have such limited success when it comes to our spiritual lives - and life in general. It's like wondering why we gain weight when we neglect to eat healthy food. But, God gives us the key to success - and that's through knowing and obeying what Scripture says. Please note: we are not talking about salvation, as that is indeed by grace alone.
What is God inviting us to do?
Do you want wisdom and success? God invites us to learn the wise words He has given to us in Scripture and then implement them in our lives. It might not come naturally or be easy, but it will be worth it!
