LOVING, SERVING, AND GROWING THE KINGDOM ONE PERSON AT A TIME

Matthew 6:33

"Seek first God's kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well." (NCV)

What is God saying?

God needs to be our first priority; and when He is, everything else will fall into place.

What is God saying to us today?

Sometimes we as Christians approach this well-known verse from a daily perspective. We need to start our day with prayer and reading Scripture, because that shows that we are putting God first before the rest of the day's tasks that we need to get to. Other times we can apply this verse to our values system. God is most important to me, then my family, then my country, etc. And when we put Him at the top of our list, well, we're seeking Him first. While these things are good, Jesus is speaking about more than that; He is saying that we are to put God's kingdom and His desires first in everything we do. So what does God want us to do? He wants us to be focused on the needs of others. When we put our relationship with God  first, that means that we will sacrificially serve others. And when we live lives of service, God will see to it that our needs will be met as well.

What is God inviting us to do?

Are you struggling to meet all of your own needs? God invites us to approach things backwards - by giving what we do have in service to Him and others, we will find that our own needs will be taken care of!
